Assistant Pastor Delores Manley is a native of Franklin, Virginia. She received her scholastic education in Isle of Wight County Public Schools and furthered her education by earning an Associate in Science Degree in Pre-Teacher Education from Paul D. Camp Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education (emphasis in English) from Old Dominion University, a Master of Religious Education Degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg, and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Cambridge College.

In December 1994, she was licensed by the sixth pastor of PGBC, Pastor Clarence Myrick, and ordained by PGBC in February 1996. Prior to becoming an Associate Minister in 1994, she served in many capacities, but most notably in dual roles as the Church Secretary and the Youth Coordinator for six years. In July 2011, Rev. Manley was appointed Assistant Pastor, and she was installed in January 2012 by Pastor Alfred D. Brown, Sr. In this awe-inspiring historical moment blessed by the Holy Spirit, she became the first Assistant Pastor of PGBC and the first female to be consecrated to the pastoral ministry.  However, more important than gifts, callings, titles, and experiences, she is a worshipper who declares in the valley or on the mountaintop: “That [she] may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.”Philippians 3:10

At PGBC, Assistant Pastor Manley serves in the capacity of Facilitator of Mid-Week Bible Study; Administrator of Vacation Bible School Summer Camp (seven weeks); Coordinator of Fall Revival; Coordinator of Hospitality and Food Services for Home Going Services; Liaison and Coordinator for Ministers’ Preparation and Ordination Services; Coordinator for Movie Theater and other duties as needed and as assigned.

Rev. Manley is a loyal, compassionate, and faithful servant who is an intercessor for Pastor Brown and his family, for the PGBC Family; and for the sick, hospitalized, convalescing, and bereaved families.

Having accrued a more than forty-year tenure as a public, collegiate, correctional, and theological educator, Assistant Pastor Manley has often been recognized for her reputed professionalism, expertise, and effectiveness. Currently, she is an Adjunct Instructor of Developmental English at Paul D. Camp Community College and an Adjunct Instructor of Pastoral Care and Christian Education classes offered in the Lifelong Continuing Education Program (Franklin Site) sponsored by the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.

In addition to preaching and teaching, publicly, she is a writer, editor, counselor, and a motivational speaker. As a promoter of unity in the church, family, workplace, and in the community, she was honored to be the Co-host and guest on “It’s Life-Changing with Dr. Carletta Perry” to address “Bridging the Gap Between Generations.”
